PC welcomes new board members during spring meeting

Two Presbyterian College alumni are rising to the challenge of governing and serving their beloved alma mater.

Columbia attorney Whitney Harrison ’07 and Greenville business leader Chad Prashad ’02 joined the PC Board of Trustees this spring.

“I am tremendously excited that Whitney and Chad have graciously agreed to join PC’s talented board of trustees,” said college president Dr. Matthew vandenBerg. “They are both eminently successful and service-minded individuals and world-class examples for our students. Their authenticity, creativity, and energy will be invaluable for our faculty, staff, and trustees as we all work collaboratively toward a bold and distictive future for PC.”

Prashad is the president and chief executive office of World Acceptance Corporation in Greenville, one of the largest lenders in the U.S. focused on helping non-prime creditors improve their finances and credit scores.

Before assuming leadership as president and CEO in 2018, Prashad served as the company’s chief strategy officer and vice president of analytics. From 2007-14, he held several strategy and analytics roles at Resurgent Capital Services.

The Greenville native is an energetic community leader, as well. He serves on the non-profit board for The Family Effect and is a board member emeritus of Fostering Great Ideas. He is a passionate advocate for improving the lives and welfare of children in foster care, and he and his wife, Pam ’02, have been foster parents for more than a decade. He has developed several high school and college support programs for students impacted by foster care and has served as a young adult mentor.

Prashad also serves as a director on the boards of World Acceptance Corporation and the American Financial Services Association. In support of PC, he served as the Data Analytics Advisory Committee chair, which led to a new data analytics major being added in 2018 and shepherding the college’s Service Entrepreneurship program announced in Fall 2021. Harrison earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010. During her time in law school, she served as Student Bar Association vice president.
