Student Research
My research interests with students largely center around better understanding sensory processes, particularly those that have been shown or suggested to be impaired in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Recent work has concentrated largely on various aspects of speech perception, but I hope to move into work on multisensory perception (particularly vision and audition) with future students, as well. Ultimately, I enjoy crafting research projects around individual students’ interests in this subject area.

About Dr. Anderson
My interests in Psychology were largely launched in my sophomore year of college when I had just experienced an incredibly intense, yet rewarding summer working at a camp for kids with special needs, and had also learned that I had a form of synesthesia (i.e., numbers and letters all have specific colors to me in my mind’s eye…turns out not everyone pictures the number 8 in the same shade of goldenrod every time). I was fortunate enough to get to conduct a research project on visual perception in Autism Spectrum Disorder (under the mentorship of two faculty members), and I have never looked back since!
Outside of academia, I have enjoyed dabbling in a number of different activities. While I wouldn’t say I’m really an expert at any of my hobbies, I do enjoy running (read: slowly jogging), crafts of all kinds, music (namely, playing marimba), and camping (though I am still learning how to do that one successfully). While my immediate household consists of my husband, Paul, and our rabbit, Cosmo (named after Cosmo Kramer for his crazy hair), the rest of my immediate family is spread across north Georgia, Indiana, and North Carolina.
