About Ms. Jorge

Mercedes Jorge enters her first season with the Presbyterian College women’s basketball team as the director of basketball operations in 2019-2020.

Jorge comes to PC after two seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia State. During the 2018-19 season, under new head coach Gene Hill, she contributed to the team’s turnaround that saw GSU record the most overall wins (17) since 2003-04 and the most Sun Belt Conference wins (11) since joining the league in 2013. The Panthers also ended the season with an appearance in the Women’s Basketball Invitational.

A native of Orlando, Fla., Jorge played three seasons of basketball at Embry-Riddle after one season at Indian River State CC. She averaged double-digit scoring at Embry-Riddle and earned both an All-Academic and All-Conference selection from the Sun Conference. She started 79 career games and averaged +30.0 minutes per game all three seasons. Jorge was a talented rebounder as well, posting 8.1 per game during her time with the Eagles. She played her prep years at Lake Mary HS in Orlando, averaging 15 points and 10 boards per game as a senior, where she helped the Rams win four district titles and three conference titles.
