About Mr. Jones

Nelson Jones enters his 33rd season at Presbyterian College, 15th as the Director of Sports Medicine and 5th as Associate Athletic Director.

Jones oversees a staff of nine and is responsible for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for all student-athletes at PC.

Jones originally joined the PC community in 1986 as the first-ever certified athletic trainer in the school’s history. He was promoted to Director of Sports Medicine in 2004 and Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in 2014.

Prior to his arrival, Jones served a three-year stint as an assistant athletic trainer at Furman. In addition to working with the Paladins, he has collegiate experience from East Tennessee State as well as doing internships with the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills of the National Football League and the Michigan Panthers of the former United States Football League.

The Bristol, Virginia native earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education-Athletic Training from East Tennessee State in 1983 and a Master of Science in Health Sciences from Furman in 1985. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Nelson resides in Clinton with his wife, the former Amy Ramage of Springfield, Ohio.
