About Ms .Hersey

Hersey begins her first season as assistant coach with the Blue Hose in June of 2018. She comes to PC after one season as head coach at Otero Junior College where she improved the team’s record by six wins, finishing at 16-13, and led the Rattlers to spot in the Region IX Tournament. Otero garnered two All-Region players in Alessia Capley (All-Tournament) and Grace O’Neill (All Region and All Region Defensive Teams) as well as a pair of NJCAA Academic All-Americans with McClain Walker and Laura Prado-Morales. Under her guidance, all five sophomores graduated in May with academic honors.

Hersey previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Dodge City Community College (2015-18) after being a grad assistant at Southern Mississippi (2013-15) and assistant coach at Fort Scott Community College (2012-13).

While at Dodge City, she coached Alexis Johnson to All-KJCCC Second Team honors as well as assisting in the team’s compiling a 17-14 record in 2015-16 as well as the 2017-18 team recording the program’s most conference wins in 10 seasons.

During her time with Southern Mississippi, the Golden Eagles compiled a record of 52-18, made consecutive trips to the WNIT, and allowed Hersey the opportunity to coach in two Conference USA Championship Tournament Finals.

Hersey began her undergrad at Garden City Community College (2007-10) where she spent one year under the direction of head coach Alaura Sharp. She then finished her career at Pittsburg State (2010-12) where she graduated with honors in May 2012, earning a bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science with an emphasis in Individual and Family Management to go with a minor in psychology.

Hersey earned her master’s degree in Human Performance and Recreation with an emphasis in Sport Coaching Education from Southern Mississippi (2015) while being on the Dean’s List and a member of Phi Upsilon Omicron.

Originally from Shawnee, Kansas, Hersey is married to James Hersey and the mother of Jeremiah Hersey.
