Assistant Coach – Women’s Basketball

Job Description Summary:

Provides on-court and off-the-court instruction for the women’s basketball team. Responsible for scouting assignments. Assist in recruiting and recruiting database management. Oversee the academic structure for the women’s basketball program. Responsibilities are not limited to the above assignments. Must be willing to work on all assigned tasks from the head coach and administration.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting:
    • Establish and build relationships with high school and club coaches. Build and maintain relationships with prospects. Search and find prospects to add to recruiting database. Utilize recruiting software and log all monthly recruiting activities. Pass the NCAA yearly recruiting test. Perform job responsibilities within compliance with NCAA rules.
  • Assistant Coaching:
    • Promote a positive environment for the women’s basketball program. Conduct individual instruction and individual film instruction weekly with your position group. Bring energy to practice. Provide schemes and ideas for successful game preparation. Run assigned drills in practice.
  • Academics:
    • Oversee the academic structure of the program. Assign academic coaches to each player.
    • Track and log study hall and tutoring sessions.
  • Team and Recruiting Travel:
    • Nights and weekends are required for recruiting travel and team travel. Nights and weekends are required for practices, games, and staff and player meetings.
  • *All other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic administration.

Required Knowledge Skills, Abilities, Experience, and Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Experience coaching, working, or playing at the college level preferred

Work Environment:

  • Experience coaching, working, or playing at the college level preferred
