Director of Campus Police

Presbyterian College is seeking to hire a Director of Campus Police.  This is a full time position with benefits and reports to the Vice President of Student Life.  The Director is responsible for the organization, direction and supervision of the College’s Police Department.  The Director administers the program’s activities by formulating polices and providing sound leadership and management.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensures safety and security for students, faculty and students
  • Ensures college compliance with government security and safety requirements
  • Performs management functions such as scheduling, staffing, evaluating, reporting and budgeting
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, administering and coordinating the programs of the Campus Police Department, in addition to providing consultative, technical and administrative direction
  • Develops programs to provide reasonable safety and security for students, faculty, staff and general public on college property, implement programs to promote building and property security
  • As chief law enforcement officer for the College; responsible for training Campus Police staff and administers and directs law enforcement functions in all areas relating to the protection of life and property, including police services, crime prevention programs, fire safety and key control.
  • Directs investigations on criminal incidents as needed and reports all criminal incidents to the South Carolina Crime Information Center
  • Administers campus parking and traffic programs and enforces all laws
  • Assist Business Office in collection of fraudulent checks
  • Provides or assist with security at athletic, cultural and social events on campus
  • Keeps statistics and updates annually the Clery report.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 7 years’ experience in law enforcement
  • Completed S. C. Law enforcement academy or willing to attend
