ZTA hosts 10th annual Pink Out

Pink-RibbonThe PC campus will be pink this week as Kappa Beta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority hosts its annual philanthropic event, Pink Out. During the event, ZTA raises awareness of breast cancer and funds for breast cancer research.

“Pink Out is such a special week, and my favorite part is being able to see the vast number of people who care for the cause,” said Mason Dunlap, a senior from Greenwood, SC, and President of the Kappa Beta chapter of ZTA.

Dunlap and ZTA sisters will distribute pink ribbons to students, professors, and staff members to help raise awareness for the cause. ZTA sisters will also chalk sidewalks, hang pink balloons, tie pink ribbons around trees across campus, and host their annual Pink Out bake sale to raise funds and spread awareness.

Fraternity members will decorate fraternity houses for the Pink Your Porch contest. Votes for the best decorated porch will be cast on Friday by donating funds to go toward the Pink Out philanthropy.

Plus, Saturday’s home football game versus VMI will feature the Survivor Walk during half time.

“Our Survivor Walk is a very special event that allows everyone attending the game to honor those who have survived breast cancer and remember those who have lost their lives,” Dunlap said.

Pink Out week culminates on Sunday with the Pink Out 5K. The race begins at Bailey Memorial Stadium at 2:00. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the day of the race and at www.pcpinkout.eventbrite.com. Cost for the 5K is $20 and includes a Pink Out 5K t-shirt. All proceeds go toward breast cancer education and awareness.
