PA Student
Class of 2021

Hometown: Lilburn, Ga.

Joy earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Berry College in 2015.

After graduation, she worked as an outpatient physical therapy technician for one year and an inpatient physical and occupational therapy technician for one year. She spent two years as a certified orthopedic medical assistant.

As an undergraduate, she was a resident assistant and played soccer. Joy is passionate about soccer, having played since she was 5. She’s coached for around five years.

“I started with high school girls and found a love for 3- to 5-year-olds,” Joy said. “I was able to teach them foundational soccer skills along with contribute to their personal development.”

Joy has been in the healthcare field for about four years. She says she’s excited to become a PA and collaborate with other healthcare providers to provide the best care for the patient.

“I look forward to providing acute and long term care and help patients overcome physical, mental and social limitations,” she said. “I chose PC because of its mission and values. It is very similar to my alma mater, Berry College, and the class size allows for focused studies within the students, faculty and staff.”

Joy’s hobbies and interests include traveling, hiking, running, playing soccer and hanging out with family and friends.
