The Class of 2023 professional degree candidates will formally receive their academic hoods representing the pharmacy
profession and their graduate diploma. Degree Plus candidates will also receive their Bachelor of Science diplomas. Tickets are not required for this event.

Hall of Fame/Wysor Saber Award and ROTC Commissioning Ceremony

The commissioning ceremony is for cadets who have successfully completed all of the requirements to graduate and commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. The Highlander Battalion is composed of students from Presbyterian College, Lander University, and Newberry College. The Wysor Saber Award and the Kimberly Hampton Leadership Award will be presented to cadets who have distinguished themselves while participating in the ROTC program.
Teacher Induction Ceremony (reception to follow)
4 p.m. Neville Hall Kuhne Auditorium
The induction ceremony is for graduating students who have successfully completed all of the requirements to graduate and are recommended for teacher certification. During this ceremony, graduates affirm their commitment and dedication to the teaching profession by collectively reciting the oath for graduating educators. Graduates are also individually recognized as they publicly begin the transition from pre-service educators to professional educators. The guest speaker this year will be Mrs. Cinda Ginn, Thornwell Charter School Teacher of the Year 2022-2023.
There will be a reception following in the Cornelson Lobby.
Baccalaureate Service
6 p.m. Belk Auditorium
The Rev. Joe Evans, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Ga., will give the Baccalaureate address. Each graduate will receive three tickets for seating at the ceremony.
Scotty’s Send Off
7 p.m. Springs Great Room
Hosted by the Offices of Alumni Relations and Student Affairs, Scotty’s Send Off will begin in Springs Student Center immediately following the Arts & Sciences Baccalaureate Service in Belk Auditorium and continue until 10 p.m. Graduates and their guests are invited to mingle, take pictures, and enjoy the accomplishments of the past four years with a live-band, dance floor, and photo station. While you may still want to have dinner prior to the Baccalaureate service, there will be a progressive array of hors d’oeuvres served throughout the night. We will provide a limited number of free drink tickets to graduates and a cash bar will be available. College of Arts and Sciences Commencement Exercises
10 a.m. West Plaza (Rain Plan: Belk Auditorium)
Seating will be open on the West Plaza for commencement exercises. Handicap parking will be available in the parking lots behind Jacobs Hall and the Harrington-Peachtree Center; Handicap seating will be marked.
Inclement Weather
Inclement weather may necessitate that we hold commencement inside. We will determine the location by 8:30 a.m. and notify students through campus e-mail and the text message alert system.
Residence Halls
All residence halls and apartments will close by 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
