In addition to fostering analytical reasoning and problem-solving ability which employers value, the study of mathematics opens a wide variety of career doors.

Over the past few years, math majors from PC have entered a variety of fields. Some have entered graduate school to do graduate work in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, and civil engineering.

Recent graduates have completed master and doctoral studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ohio State University, Arizona State University, Clemson University, the College of Charleston, Georgia State University, and Wake Forest University.

Several graduates have taken jobs teaching in public schools, while others have chosen careers in business, government, or industry, including such areas as accounting and environmental research.

PC’s math department offers two major courses of study:
