WHAT YOU’LL STUDY

You can earn a minor in biology by successfully completing 19 hours of specified biology courses.

You’ll gain a solid foundation for the minor by taking the Biological Concepts course and lab as well as the Organismal Biology course and lab. You’ll need to earn a C- or higher in the Organismal Biology course and lab or its approved equivalent to enroll in any upper-division biology course.

If you successfully complete these required courses, you can select 11 hours of biology electives at or above 2000-level, excluding BIOL 3990, to satisfy the 19 hours required for the biology minor.

You’ll need to make at least a “C” in each course to earn a minor in biology, although you might be allowed to make one “D.” The Department of Biology may specify certain courses that you’ll need to make at least a “C” in, and you’ll need to make an overall average of “C” or better on all work presented for the minor.

You must take at least half of the hours required for the minor at PC. The Provost must approve any substitutions to the requirements of the biology minor prior to completion of the amended requirement.

Speak with your advisor or the chair of the biology department about minimum grades allowed and any additional requirements for the biology minor.
