WHAT YOU’LL STUDY
PC offers two media studies minors. One has a business concentration, and one has a journalism and communication concentration. Both are interdisciplinary minors.
Depending on the courses you select, the media studies minor with the business concentration could include courses in accounting, business administration, public speaking and media studies. Twenty-one to twenty-four hours are required to earn the minor.
Five courses are required:
- Introduction to Media Studies
- Principles of Financial Accounting
- Marketing
- Small Business Management
- Principles of Macroeconomics
An internship in media studies is also required. You can earn three to six hours of course credit by successfully completing the internship.
You’ll round out your media studies minor by taking Managerial Communication or Public Speaking.
You’ll need to make at least a “C” in each course to earn a minor in media studies, although you might be allowed to make one “D.” The Department of Economics and Business Administration may specify certain courses that you’ll need to make at least a “C” in, and you’ll need to make an overall average of “C” or better on all work presented for the minor.
You must take at least half of the hours required for the minor at PC. The Provost must approve any substitutions to the requirements of the media studies minor prior to completion of the amended requirement.
Speak with your advisor or the chair of the business department about minimum grades allowed and any additional requirements for the media studies minor.
