What You’ll Study as a Medical Physics Major

As a medical physics major at Presbyterian College, you are introduced to the philosophy, principles, and methods of medical physics.

During your freshman and sophomore years, you will fulfill your general education requirements, which serve as the basis of your liberal arts education. Courses include those in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

In your junior and senior years, most or all of your courses will be specific to your major. You can expect to take courses like Advanced Dynamics, Quantum Mechanics, and Nuclear Physics. As a capstone to the major, you’ll complete an independent research project on a topic related to medical physics. This research focuses on experimental design, data analysis, and the presentation of scientific information.

The education you receive will provide the knowledge and skillset to prepare you for employment and graduate school.
