During a severe weather event, the following actions should be taken.

Presbyterian College Employees and students will receive information through emergency communication methods such as the RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System when a tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

Note: A tornado warning means that a tornado has been spotted or indicated by weather radar in the area.

For a tornado warning: If a tornado has been detected in this area; take immediate shelter. If a tornado warning is issued, immediately report to the lowest level possible (depending on time) in your residence hall and go to a windowless area near the inside center of the building. Avoid corridors whose exterior doors exit directly (no turns) outside; they may become “ wind tunnels.” Sit down, back against a north or east wall and cover your head with your arms. You may have a few minutes, few seconds, or no warning at all.

Presbyterian College employees and students will receive information through emergency communication methods such as a text to their mobile phones from the RAVE Alert Emergency Notification System when a tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service.
