Know Yourself

Knowing yourself is the first and most important step in the search process.

What do I need to be satisfied with my work? Your values are what drive and motivate you to be successful. Consider things like teamwork, security, variety.

What do I have to offer an employer? Consider the skills you have and like to use like time management skills, presentations skills, and organizational skills.

You may want to complete career assessments using Focus 2, our online interactive career planning system, to learn more about careers that may match your values, skills, and interests (or re-review your results if completed previously)  to deliberate over your career options.

You may also want to review What Can I Do with this Major? and read about possible career paths by major that are aligned with your interests, skills, and values.

Once you have determined which career options you’d like to pursue, you can develop your marketing materials and start connecting to job openings and contacts.  If you are still confused, see us.
