Director of Counseling Services

Susan Gentry, LISW-CP, obtained a BA in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1995 and earned her Masters degree in Social Work in 1998. In 2004, Susan became a Licensed Independent Social Worker for Clinical Practice. She worked at Charter Hospital of Greenville for several years before going into private practice. She was in private practice for 6 years prior to accepting the position of Director of Counseling Services at Presbyterian College.

Hobbies: Spending time with family, going to sporting events, traveling and outdoor adventures.

Counselor

Debra “Joe” Franks, LPC, LAC, LMSW, MAC, obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Lander University in 1980 and earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Education from Clemson University in 1987. Joe is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and Master Addiction Counselor (MAC-NAADAC). Prior to 15 years of experience serving in the roles of Director of Counseling Services, Substance Use Counselor, CARE Team Coordinator, and/or Student Affairs Director of Assessment & Retention Strategies at Lander University, she was a counselor and clinical supervisor at Cornerstone (an outpatient substance use agency) for 19 years. In 2007, she completed a year of training through the Duke Endowment South Carolina Addiction Fellow’s program. She is currently a counselor at Presbyterian College.

Hobbies: Hiking and backpacking, spending time with friends and family, reading, baking, and cooking

Nurse Practitioner

Jackie Waldron originally attended a nursing program at Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing in Warren, Ohio. Once she obtained her RN degree, she relocated to Columbia, SC to begin her nursing career at Richland Memorial Hospital. While working full-time she attended the University of South Carolina and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing Administration in 1991. After working in the Intensive Care Unit at Self Regional Hospital, Jackie returned to USC to obtain her Post Masters Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Jackie has over 20 years of experience in nursing, with the last 10 years employed as a Nurse Practitioner with the Family Healthcare Center. She is board certified in family medicine.

Hometown: Ashtabula, Ohio

Hobbies and Community Interests: Cooking and baking; loves to try new recipes. Reading (mysteries). Scrapbooking. Participating in church and church committees. Spending time with her children.
