Statement regarding Presbyterian College athletics activities for the Spring 2020 sports season:
In addition to the continuation of men’s and women’s basketball practice and competitions, resumption of other PC varsity sport program activities will begin as members of each team return to campus to prepare for their upcoming spring seasons.
We continue to follow and update our return to play protocols which are based on guidance from the NCAA, the Big South Conference, the CDC, local & state regulations, as well as campus regulations. An abundance of caution is being used in order to appropriately minimize risk for student-athletes, coaches and staff, as well as members of the campus and local communities.
Student-athletes, coaches and staff that are involved with athletics on campus are frequently provided with new and existing information regarding COVID-19, proper safety measures, and updates from national, state and local healthcare officials, team physicians, and national organizations.
Daily Screens & Temperature Checks
Student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff members are screened each day prior to entering athletic facilities. The screening process includes answering health-related questions and temperature checks using an infrared thermometer.
Social distancing is required on campus. The only exception will be during competitions and appropriate athletically related activities when COVID-19 testing is in place.

Athletic facility & equipment cleaning procedures
Athletics staff and student-athletes will comply with all college cleaning guidelines. In addition, PC Athletics is conducting additional cleaning and sanitizing of high traffic areas, including but not limited to locker rooms, the strength & conditioning room, scorers’ tables, etc.
Student-athletes, coaches and support staff considered to be Tier 1 members of a sport program will be tested for COVID-19 during their spring sports season in accordance with NCAA and conference guidelines for their respective sport classification (i.e., high-risk indoor sport, high-risk outdoor sport, intermediate-risk, low risk.)
Student-Athletes, Coaches & Staff with COVID-19 Symptoms, Testing, Isolation and Quarantine
Athletics will comply with NCAA, conference and college protocols for student-athletes, coaches and staff that have symptoms, test positive or come into contact with an individual that has had a positive COVID-19 test or is presumed to be positive for COVID-19.
Return-to-Play and Sport After COVID-19 Diagnosis
Any student-athlete diagnosed with COVID-19 must receive clearance by the team physician prior to returning to athletic activity. After clearance to return to physical activity following COVID-19 diagnosis, student-athletes will return to play in accordance with the athletic department’s return to play protocols, which include non-exertional phases and exertional phases.
