Carlisle Hewitt ’55

When he was a chemistry major at Presbyterian College, Dr. J. Carlisle Hewitt ’55, received the gifts of knowledge and care from two of the College’s finest professors – Dr. Nolon Carter and his wife, Eugenia.

When the late Carter retired in 1987, Hewitt returned their gift with a gift of his own by joining the initial group that established the Nolon and Eugenia Carter Endowment fund to purchase equipment for the chemistry department.

The retired radiologist also gives generously and consistently to the PC Fund, the Scotsman Club, and the G. Edward Campbell ’50 Financial Aid Scholarship for students with financial need.

Hewitt began practicing medicine in 1958 and was board certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1963 and the American Board of Nuclear Medicine in 1972.

In 1984, he was named a fellow of the American College of Radiology.
