A life well-lived took Mary Crawford Gath far away from her hometown in Clinton. She was born there, grew up there, taught there, and found love there. But when she passed away in April of 2020 at the age of 101, her kind and generous spirit found its way back home.

The Clinton native graduated from Clinton High School and returned there to teach after earning a degree from Winthrop College (now University). She met her husband, Carl, while teaching at CHS and moved to Fairport, N.Y. and later Rochester for a long career as an educator.

Throughout the years, she continued to harbor fond memories of her hometown and the small liberal arts college that resides there – remembered with generosity upon her passing. In addition to a planned gift, she gave to the J. Roy and Fannie Mae Wade Crawford Family Scholarship Fund in memory of her parents and awarded to students with financial need.
