Walt ’66 and Susan Todd

Walter B. Todd Jr. ’66 began practicing law in Columbia, SC in 1973 after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law and serving four years in the U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General Corps.

In addition to his private practice, Todd served 15 years as assistant city attorney for the City of Columbia and also as a city judge. He has served as a part-time judge in several diversion courts and also as chairman of the board for the AllSouth Federal Credit Union. He and his wife, Susan, have two grown children, a son and a daughter, and their grandson, Walter Blakely Todd IV is currently a  senior at PC. Todd has a storied relationship with his alma mater. His father also was a 1939 PC graduate and his great-grandfather served as the best man in college founder William Plumer Jacob’s wedding.

The Todds established the Col. And Mrs. Walter B. Todd Scholarship Fund and they have also given to the Promise of PC and other major college initiatives and campaigns.

“I have so much to say about PC,” he said. “When you go there, you don’t really realize how important it is to you until you get out and realize its true value. … I absolutely adore the place.”
