Dr. Turner currently serves as an Assistant Professor and as the Academic Fieldwork for a fully accredited Occupational Therapy Doctoral program (OTD). She has 13 years of clinical experience in the health care experience as a licensed occupational therapist and has three years of experience in academic teaching experience at the graduate level.

Dr. Turner incorporates her ongoing experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist, to develop and teach courses that emphasize current practice guidelines and evidence-based research. She mentors students to develop understanding of current health problems and address with their research objectives. She has established and maintained outreach and recruitment strategies throughout the community in rural and nonrural areas to identify and partner with sites for placing students in meaningful fieldwork experiences (i.e. practicum experiences) to achieve the requisite OTD program educational outcomes. Dr. Turner works independently and collaborative with faculty and clinical fieldwork sites to ensure OTD students successfully gain the core competencies and comprehensive practical clinical experience to ensure exposure to the scope of occupational therapy opportunities. Through strong interpersonal and applied organizational skills, Dr. Turner builds and maintains effective professional relationships within both the education setting and the healthcare community.
