Faculty guitarist to perform Nov. 12

Dr. James Buckland will perform a recital of 19th-century guitar music in Edmunds Hall on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature several works by Niccolo Paganini and his contemporaries. Paganini, renowned as the greatest violin virtuoso of his era, was also an avid guitar virtuoso.

Buckland’s interpretations are based heavily on the research of the performance practices of the day, including spontaneous improvisation. Buckland is also a luthier, building his own guitars after originals from the 19th century.

The Music Department at PC offers faculty recitals throughout the year. Please visit the Music Department’s pages for more information.
