Tish Oney Trio to tribute Nat King Cole at PC concert

Tish Oney | Music Performance Series | Presbyterian College | Clinton SCThe Tish Oney Trio presents “A Nat King Cole Centennial” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in Edmunds Hall. The concert is the first in PC’s 2019-2020 Performance Series.

The program will feature hits and well-known songs associated with Cole, a Capitol Records artist and the first African American to host a nationally televised variety show. Cole also scored more than 100 pop and jazz radio hits over his international career as a jazz pianist and singer.

Modeled after the Nat King Cole Trio, Oney’s band features Shannon Hoover on bass and Matt Dingledine on guitar, with Oney providing piano accompaniment and vocals.

Oney is widely acclaimed for her work as a jazz vocalist, arranger, composer, recording artist, jazz pedagogue and jazz journalist. She casts fresh light upon the significant work of this major influence of hers in a heartfelt tribute honoring Cole’s 100th birthday.

Tickets are $5 for guests. PC faculty, staff and student admission is free with ID.
