Tenor Hugo Vera to perform ‘So About Love’ at PC

International tenor vocalist Hugo Vera will perform the program, “So About Love,” Nov. 14 in Edmunds Hall.

A master class, open to the public, will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Wyatt Chapel. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The master class is free. The concert is free for PC students and faculty with ID, and only $5 at the door for general admission.

Join Vera as he explores the feelings and emotions associated with love through music – from the late Renaissance to present-day, from ecstasy to hate. The program will include works by Caccini, Strozzi, Schumann, Duparc, Rodrigo and more.

A native Texan, Vera is described as possessing a “truly heroic voice” that is both “beautiful and brilliant.”

Vera is increasingly in demand and is a recent addition to The Metropolitan Opera artist roster. He has performed 34 roles and 20 choral-orchestral works with distinguished companies in the U.S. as part of his musical and artistic development of the full lyric and spinto tenor repertoire.

His performance will be the third in PC’s 2019-20 Performance Series. The series will continue in the spring.
