Most companies offer educational discounts on laptops, desktop computers, tablets, and programs. You can purchase online or go into any retail store and ask about their educational discounts, promotions or deals.

It is highly recommended that you keep your Operating System up-to-date by setting it for Automatic updates.
Note: There is a variety of hardware available, including netbooks, tablet computers, that students may find to be sufficient for their needs. As such, the concern from an IT perspective is that the software receives regular security updates to reduce the risk of infections.
Microsoft Office 365 is FREE for all Presbyterian College Students

NOTE: The College’s licensing agreement provides this software only to current students. Once you are no longer a current PC student, you will lose access to any software that you have downloaded. Available software currently includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Microsoft determines which versions of the software are available for download; available software may vary based on your operating system.

PC Email
The College’s email service provider is Gmail. Your Presbyterian College email account will also provide you access to Google Drive. To access your email log in through Gmail.

Presbyterian College has a 1,000Mbps fiber internet connection. There is also wireless WiFi coverage on and around campus. To connect, select the ‘PC_Student’ and enter your student supplied passkey. Everyone is required to authenticate to the wireless network for access. You will be prompted for your username and password, which is the same password used for printing at the library and computer labs.
An ethernet cable is recommended in the dorm rooms. Ethernet cables provide a higher speed and more reliable network connection than wireless. Cables may be purchased at local stores: Fred’s and WalMart.
NOTE: Personal wireless Access Points (A.P.s) and routers are strictly prohibited throughout the campus.
Students are allowed to purchase or stream through legal services such as GooglePlay, Netflix, iTunes, or Amazon for personal use.
Illegally downloading unauthorized versions of copyrighted materials such as music, movies, files, or videos is prohibited on campus. Copyright infringement is not something to be taken lightly and the government can file criminal charges, which can result in substantial fines and imprisonment.
