New program expands access to professional certificates in high-demand career fields

Presbyterian College is expanding learning opportunities for its entire community through a new partnership with Coursera, one of the world’s largest providers of online courses and professional certificates.

The initiative gives faculty, staff, students, and alumni free access to Coursera’s Career Academy, which offers industry-recognized micro-credentials and certifications in fields such as data analytics, cybersecurity, social media marketing, UX design, and application development. Each program includes interactive lessons and hands-on projects designed by leading companies to prepare participants with skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

PC president Dr. Anita Gustafson said the program underscores the college’s ability to provide a transformative education.

“This initiative reflects Presbyterian College’s mission of preparing people to live lives of leadership and service,” Gustafson said. “By extending these resources not only to our employees but also to our students and alumni, we are helping Blue Hose at every stage of life build skills, strengthen career opportunities, and stay competitive in a rapidly changing world.”

Dr. Erin McAdams, provost and vice president of academic affairs, said the partnership also demonstrates PC’s commitment to lifelong learning.

“Faculty and staff can sharpen their expertise, students can supplement their classroom learning with career-ready skills, and alumni can reskill or upskill as they advance in their professions,” she said. “This is a powerful way to invest in every member of the PC family.”
