Summary
With over two decades of clinical experience as an occupational therapist, Dr. Boone has devoted the majority of her professional career to pediatric practice across diverse settings. Much of her work has focused on serving children and youth in outpatient clinics, school systems, and community-based programs. Dr. Boone has a deep passion for helping children with sensory processing differences, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and a variety of physical and cognitive challenges. Her clinical approach emphasizes family collaboration, functional participation, and meaningful occupation, grounded in models like the PEOP, Sensory Integration Frameworks, Motor Learning and Developmental Frameworks. Dr. Boone remains committed to lifelong learning and professional growth through active clinical practice and professional certifications in Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening and Sabeo Orthotics. Dr. Boone is a Certified Yoga Instructor with over a decade of experience in yoga practice. Her 20+ years of Occupational Therapy experience have shaped her into a compassionate, skilled, and adaptable practitioner, a role that allows her to mentor the next generation of occupational therapy professionals while maintaining strong connections to clinical practice and community partnerships.
Research or Areas of Specialty
Dr. Boone’s research focuses on pediatric occupational therapy practice, occupational balance among occupational therapy professionals, and the development of innovative service delivery models that promote participation and well-being. Her scholarship explores OT-led Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) within public school settings, the use of emerging gaming and exergaming interventions to support academic and developmental outcomes, and the integration of experiential learning opportunities within occupational therapy education. Additional areas of interest include school-based caseload and workload models, occupational justice, and strategies that support practitioner sustainability and professional well-being.
