My area of expertise is in working with SC Native plants. I have spent several years surveying the native plant communities at Musgrove Mill State Historic Site. Many of the plants that I have collected and identified are new to county records, including in Laurens, Spartanburg, and Union counties. My future goal is to publish a guide to the Wildflowers and Trees of Musgrove Mill State Park. A preliminary version of this work is available and being used by visitors at the Rangers Station of Musgrove Mill.

I have also been collecting plant data by working with students in the Plant Systematics and Botany classes here at PC with the goal of increasing the database of plants found in the Upstate, which is vastly under reported.

Additionally, I have coached the Science Olympiad Fossils team and currently serve as the State Supervisor for Fossils. In fact, I coached our recent Physics hire, Dr. Clay Wright, to a 10th place finish at the National Competition.
