Hal Milam brings more than three decades of experience in journalism, public relations, and higher education communications to his role as marketing and communications specialist at Presbyterian College. A seasoned storyteller, Milam is responsible for writing and editing news and feature stories for the college website, publications, and media outreach.

Milam began his career in community journalism, serving as a reporter and editor for local newspapers before transitioning to educational communications. Over the years, he has held multiple roles at Presbyterian College—including staff writer, assistant director and director of media relations, and library archives assistant—each reflecting his versatility and long-standing commitment to the college community.

An award-winning writer and photographer, Milam has earned numerous honors from the South Carolina Press Association, including multiple first-place awards in editorial writing and in-depth reporting. His excellence in higher education journalism was also recognized with the prestigious Pete Ivey Award from the College News Association of the Carolinas.

Milam is a 1987 graduate of Erskine College with a degree in English. Outside of his professional work, he has served in various leadership roles with community organizations, churches, and literacy initiatives. He is also the creative mind behind the “Ask Dr. Wolfman” YouTube. His diverse talents and deep ties to Presbyterian College make him a vital part of the Blue Hose story.

He and his wife, Marie, an educator, live in Laurens with their dog, Cindy Lou.
