Assistant Professor of Biochemistry
Position Overview
The Presbyterian College Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level starting for August 2026. We are seeking a highly qualified individual with expertise in Biochemistry.
- The ideal candidate will have documented research experience in Computational Modeling of Biological Systems.
- Successful candidates will hold a PhD in Biochemistry and demonstrate commitment to pursuing excellence in science teaching within a liberal arts curriculum.
- Candidates must have more than one year of experience teaching undergraduate Biochemistry I and II (lecture and laboratory), as well as General Chemistry I and II (lecture and laboratory). The candidate will also be expected to teach upper-level Chemistry and Biochemistry elective courses, as needed.
- Additionally, the candidate should have experience directing a nationally accredited Biochemistry Program, as they will be responsible for guiding our American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) accredited major.
- Candidates should have a proven record of mentoring undergraduate research and are expected to develop an active undergraduate research program in Molecular Dynamic Simulations.
- The candidate will have the opportunity to be supported by the College’s NIH-funded South Carolina-INBRE research program and pursue other external funding in conjunction with our Biology Department.
