Assistant Professor of Psychology
Position Description
Presbyterian College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology specializing in Social Psychology, beginning in Fall 2027. We seek a broadly trained social psychologist who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and who will contribute actively to the intellectual life of our department and college.
A doctoral degree is required; ABD candidates will be considered. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, Social Psychology, and an upper-level course within their area of expertise.
The position carries a 4-3 teaching load. The Department and College support faculty scholarship, particularly research that involves undergraduate students. Faculty are eligible to apply for internal grants supporting research activities, including conference travel. They may work with eligible students to conduct research during the summer through the College’s prestigious Summer Fellows program.
We welcome candidates whose scholarship complements the department’s existing strengths and who are eager to involve undergraduate students in meaningful research experiences.
The Psychology Department
The Psychology Department currently consists of five full-time faculty members and offers a rigorous undergraduate program in psychological science. The psychology major includes a five-course required core in methodology and systems, a five-course foundational grouping representing major areas within psychological science—including developmental, clinical, social, cognitive, and biological—and a variety of elective courses. Approximately 25–30 psychology majors graduate each year.
