Advising Information

First-Year Students

To help you get started at PC, you’ll receive a suggested course schedule from a Registration Coach and personalized support from an Academic Advisor. Together, these resources will help you prepare for your first semester and build a strong foundation for your academic journey.

Registration Coach

If you complete the advising questionnaire before May 26, your first point of contact will be a Registration Coach who will:

  • Provide a suggested schedule
  • Clear you for registration via BannerWeb
  • Guide you through the course registration process

Your suggested schedule will be sent to your PC email address and the personal email address we have on file.
Be sure to check your email regularly for updates.

Academic Advisor

By early June, you’ll be assigned an Academic Advisor who will:

  • Help you review, develop, or modify your course schedule
  • Support your transition to college life
  • Offer academic guidance and mentorship
  • Assist with exploring majors and career planning

Details about your assigned advisor will be sent to your PC email and the personal email address we have on file.
Be sure to check your email regularly for updates.

Your First Semester Schedule

You should review general education requirements and explore your interests in specific majors or pre-professional programs.

  • Required: First-Year Exploration (COLS 1000)
  • Strongly Recommended: English, Foreign Language
    • Your Foreign Language Placement will be posted in your DegreeWorks
  • Additional Options: Fine Arts, History, Mathematics, Religion, Natural Science, Social Science

Students focusing on certain majors or programs will need to take specific courses during their first semester to stay on track for graduating in four years:
