Your Wellbeing Matters

A healthy mind is the foundation for success.

Life at college comes with its share of challenges, but you don’t have to face them alone. Our services are open to all full-time undergraduate and graduate PC students. Whether you’re experiencing a tough moment in life, need guidance, or simply want to talk, we’re here for you. Here’s how we help:

  • Navigating the transition to college life
  • Managing physical and emotional stress
  • Building self-confidence and personal awareness
  • Coping with grief, anxiety, or depression
  • Healing from past traumas

No issue is “too small”—we’re here to support YOU.

Why Choose Counseling?

Because your mental health matters—and it’s a vital part of thriving at college. By connecting with our licensed mental health professionals, you can expect to:

  • Find Clarity: Pinpoint the sources of stress and learn effective coping strategies.
  • Grow Stronger: Develop better self-awareness and improve your relationships.
  • Enhance Performance: Overcome obstacles to focus better on academics and achieve your goals.

We believe every student deserves the tools and support to find their balance and lead a fulfilling life.

Recognizing the Signs

Sometimes life’s pressures can feel overwhelming, and that’s okay. But how do you know when you might need support? Look for signs like:

  • Persistent sadness, anxiety, or overwhelming stress
  • Difficulty concentrating or keeping up with schoolwork
  • A sudden drop in energy or changes in sleeping patterns
  • Avoiding friends, family, or activities you once enjoyed

Think you or a friend may need help? Don’t wait—our compassionate counselors are here to guide you.

What We Offer

Staffed by licensed mental health professionals specializing in college student concerns, we offer individual counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, and educational workshops to support your mental and emotional growth on your journey toward wellness.

Types of Services

You can meet one-on-one with a licensed mental health counselor during weekdays. While students typically have sessions every other week, we provide flexibility based on your needs:

  • Session frequency and length are tailored to your situation
  • More frequent appointments are available during personal crises
  • Your counselor will assess your specific needs throughout treatment
  • If more intensive support is required, your counselor may connect you with appropriate off-campus resources

Our goal is to provide the right level of care for your specific situation.

Virtual counseling is available for students who:

  • Are not currently on campus
  • Prefer online counseling sessions
  • May be in quarantine or isolation

We’re committed to making mental health support accessible in whatever format works best for you.

Group and virtual counseling sessions are offered when feasible. The types of groups conducted are based on each student’s issues or needs. Most group sessions meet weekly and are coordinated around students’ academic schedules.

Throughout the semester, group counseling sessions can be offered on an as-needed basis. Topics addressed typically include those such as:

  • suicide prevention
  • alcohol awareness
  • anxiety
  • positive body image
  • disordered eating
  • grief
  • mental health awareness

If you’re struggling with chemical abuse or dependency, help is available nearby at The GateWay Counseling Center, just five minutes from campus. They offer flexible services designed around your needs, with assessments available by appointment.

While there is a cost for these services (which is your or your family’s responsibility), the center understands financial concerns and offers interest-free payment plans to make treatment more accessible.

Your recovery journey is important, and The GateWay Counseling Center is ready to support you every step of the way.

For an assessment appointment, call 833-6500 or visit the Gateway Counseling Center website to learn more.
