Semester at PC

The Semester at Presbyterian College offers international students the chance to study for one semester or a full academic year. Students can choose from any of PC’s 39 majors, with popular courses including business, English, psychology, and history. Classes, which average 15 students, are taken alongside American students, allowing for close interaction with peers and faculty.

Students can choose an English Intensive learning path.

Excursions & Activities

Each semester includes a variety of planned excursions—covered by the program fee—that give you the chance to explore historic cities and experience popular regional events. Past destinations have included Charleston, Greenville, and Columbia, South Carolina, as well as Savannah, Georgia (locations may vary).

Beyond these excursions, you’ll also have access to a wide range of campus activities. You can enjoy sporting events, student art exhibitions, theatrical performances, movie nights, guest lectures, live music, community service opportunities, and more.

  • Tuition and on-campus housing
  • 17 meals per week at campus dining facilities

The Southern Immersion Semester requires participants to take specific Intensive English courses exclusively designed for the program. Plus, choose from various electives like film studies, biology, business, or history. These elective courses are taken alongside Presbyterian College students, giving you a chance to meet locals and experience authentic college life in the American South.

Apply for Semester Program

Students applying to Presbyterian College through direct enroll or an exchange program should meet the following requirements:

Step One
  • Medical Form
  • Be currently enrolled in a degree program at one of our affiliated institutions
  • Nomination Form: To be completed by your international advisor
  • International Student Application: Fall or Summer
  • One recent photograph (copy of passport preferred)
  • Short essay in English, explaining why you want to study at Presbyterian College
  • TOEFL or IELTS Official Score Report or home university-approved TOEFL
  • University Transcripts
English Immersion Semester
  • One English as a Second Language Score:
    • TOEFL: 480
    • IELTS: 5.5
    • iBT: 60
    • TOEIC: 610
  • English Courses:
    – Listening and Speaking (IENG 1021)
    – Either Writing (IENG 1022)
    – Reading courses (IENG 1023).
Southern Semester
  • One English as a Second Language Score:
    • TOEFL score of 550 (79 if online)
    • IELTS score of 6.5
    • TOEIC score of 800
  • English Courses:
    – Listening and Speaking (IENG 1021)
    – Either Writing or Reading courses (IENG 1022 or IENG 1023).

Once your application is completely approved, you will receive information relating to your program of study at Presbyterian College along with your visa application papers.

3-Week Intensive English Programs

Languages thrive in a culture, not simply in a classroom. PC’s 3-week Intensive English Program helps students acclimate to conversational English and daily life in America before their university program. You will have the chance to learn and practice effective communication skills in an intimate, student-focused environment. You will explore a remarkable area of the country and build meaningful relationships with PC faculty and American students.

Located in historic Clinton, South Carolina, Presbyterian College’s 240 picturesque acres can be your home to embark on an adventure to America. Our beautiful campus provides the perfect setting for immersive language learning and cultural exploration.

Program Details

The program raises students’ English competency and introduces them to the academic skills expected of American university students. It includes 60 hours of classroom instruction, as well as extensive conversation sessions. The small class size provides an excellent setting for discussion.

Local Excursions

All immersion programs include weekend excursions to give students the chance to explore some of the most iconic destinations in the United States, which may include trips to North Carolina, Georgia, Washington, DC, and in South Carolina.
