Students across all disciplines were given the chance to showcase their artistic talent at the 2026 Student Art Exhibition in the Elizabeth Stone Harper Gallery this month.

The exhibition features the work of more than 20 students, many of whom have had their work featured before, such as juniors Lauren Smoak, Anjali Lada, and Lauren Hobson.

Among those talented students is senior Peyton Phillips, a physics major from Augusta, Ga.

Phillips’ work was also featured in the student exhibition titled “Open Studio/Creative Mind” last spring, and this year, he had four pieces on display throughout the gallery, titled:

  • “roll with the punches,” Digital Art
  • “SPS Logo & T-Shirt,” Graphic Design
  • “Adidas Art Showcase,” Graphic Design
  • “false messages,” Digital Art

Throughout his four years at PC, art has become Phillips’ passion project, acting as an escape from the daily stress of academics and other responsibilities.

His preferred mediums are digital art and graphic design, though he experiments with drawing and painting as well.

While the process can be time-consuming, the satisfaction and rewarding feeling of seeing his own work on display for so many eyes to see is what motivates Phillips and inspires him to keep creating and experimenting with other mediums.

“It feels great to see people admire your work and speak great things about what you created,” Phillips said. “It helps you gain confidence and the motivation to keep improving your craft and make something even better each time.”

As Phillips prepares to walk across the stage at commencement, he plans to return to his hometown and take a gap year before continuing on to graduate school, during which he’s been offered an opportunity to work as an electrical engineer for the city of Augusta.

The Annual Student Exhibition will be on display until Friday, April 24, and is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
