Studying abroad is a transformative experience that opens the door to personal growth and global understanding. You’ll forge lifelong connections and gain powerful insights that prepare you to thrive in our interconnected world.

The emergence of the South throughout the 20th Century has been marked by sporadic incidents of rage and violence. Understanding the sources of this unrest, and the consequences of these events is essential to understanding the South that would ultimately evolve. This course, and the accompanying Spring Break trip, centers on two infamous acts of violence: The assassinations of President John F. Kennedy (Dallas, Texas) and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. (Memphis, Tennessee). In order to demonstrate the fact that these horrific events did not occur in a vacuum, along with visits to Memphis and Dallas, the course and the corresponding Spring Break trip will also travel to Birmingham, Alabama (16th Street Baptist Church), Oxford, Mississippi (Ole Miss Riots), Little Rock, Arkansas (Central High Little Rock 9), Jackson, Mississippi (Assassination of Medgar Evers), and Montgomery, Alabama (National Museum for Peace and Justice).

The Summer Program in Lyon, France is a 4-week study abroad experience that gives students a chance to take cross-cultural courses in business as well as learn basic conversational French. Courses meet Tuesday-Thursday, and cultural excursions in the region are scheduled on Friday. The program cost (approx. 1575.00 US) provides a furnished studio apartment, 6 transfer credits from our partner school IDRAC, cultural activity fees, and travel insurance. It’s an awesome and affordable program! Open to all students at PC. Contact, Dr. Patrick Kiley,  or OIP for more information.

The PC Business Department’s Summer Program will take you to Edinburgh, Scotland for fourteen days. You will stay on the campus of Queen Margaret University and within 10 minutes of downtown Edinburgh. All students will stay in fully furnished apartments with kitchen facilities and will have access to all university facilities [library, eating establishments, laundry, sports facilities, etc.]. All students will also receive six academic credit hours.

This travel course will introduce students to the vibrant and culturally influential capital city, Edinburgh. Frequent excursions are planned in the city to include the Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, The Stone of Destiny, and much, much more. In addition, day trips are planned to St. Andrews and there are also opportunities to visit Stirling, Glasgow, and other historic and beautiful sites.

This program is open to all PC students. If interested, please contact Dr. Suzie Smith or Dr. Kurt Gleichauf for additional information.

Join Drs. Mike Nelson and Stefan Wiecki on our 2026 Study Away to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands! The two courses associated with the program are an elective history course that studies soldier experiences on the Western Front during WWI and a class on anti-Nazi resistance movements during WWII in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The trip takes place from May 10 to May 23, 2026. Please reach out to mnelson@presby.edu or swwiecki@presby.edu with any questions.

Our Study Away trip takes students on a journey through Wilmington, Richmond, Washington, DC, and Charlottesville to explore the world of social entrepreneurship out in the world. You’ll visit inspiring individuals and organizations doing work in various industries (i.e., food industry), meet with elected officials and/or national agencies like the U.S. Department of Commerce or SBA, and enjoy cultural experiences at museums and historic sites. Going on this trip will earn you 3 credit hours of SENT or BADM electives. With hotel accommodations, travel, and most meals included, this trip offers the perfect mix of professional connections, academic credit, and free time to explore vibrant cities with your peers!

The goal of the program is to guide each participant into a total experience of the rich and dynamic Korean culture in historical and contemporary contexts. An additional goal is to promote awareness of Korea’s unique place among East Asian cultures. The program is also designed to accommodate students of all levels of proficiency in the Korean language from beginner to advanced. A wide array of lectures, hands-on learning, and field trips will also allow students to explore and learn directly about Korea on a first-hand basis.
