English professor earns Excellence in Teaching award

mcgehee-award1Assistant Professor of English Dr. Molly McGehee was one of 20 South Carolina professors honored with the 2013 South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Excellence in Teaching Award.

Since joining the PC faculty in 2008, McGehee has taught a number of English language and literature courses, including Southern Women’s Writing, African American Literature, American Identities, and Introduction to Southern Studies. McGehee also serves as the Director of PC’s Southern Studies program and chair of the Multicultural Affairs and Concerns Committee.

McGehee recently named a regional delegate to the Modern Language Association Assembly, earned a master’s and Ph.D. in American Studies from Emory University. She earned a master’s degree in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi after earning a bachelor’s degree in History from Davidson College.

McGehee, pictured in the center above, received her Excellence in Teaching award at a recent SCICU awards ceremony. She is pictured with Henri Baskins, Chair of the SCICU Board of Trustees, and Dr. Don Raber, PC’s Provost.
