The Presbyterian College Board of Trustees granted promotion and/or tenure to 15 faculty members on Friday, February 19, 2016.

“These individuals have demonstrated their strong qualifications and energy in pursuing teaching of our students, scholarship and professional development, and service to the campus and community,” said Dr. Don Raber, Provost at PC. “They are outstanding instructors, mentors, leaders, and contributors to our community.”

The following individuals received tenure:

Dr. Jennifer Clements is Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from Campbell University School of Pharmacy. She teaches courses and sequences in case studies in ambulatory care, learning styles, and medication therapy management. Her research interests include chronic disease state management and pharmacy education methods.

Dr. Jack Fincham is Professor of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences in the School of Pharmacy. He joined the PC faculty after service as professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the University of Georgia, and the University of Kansas, where he also served as Dean from 1994 to 2004. He has conducted research on health economics, pharmaceutical marketing, patient compliance, medication management, avoiding medication risks, and the Medicare Part D Drug Benefit, and drug use in the elderly. He earned a post graduate certificate degree in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland; a Ph.D. degree in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota; and a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska.

Cynthia Lucking is Associate Professor of Economics and Business Administration in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her M.S. degree in Accounting and a B.A. degree from Northwestern University. A Certified Public Accountant, she teaches a range of accounting courses, including introductory and intermediate accounting, information systems, and auditing. Her professional experience includes public accounting, audit and tax services, and corporate accounting.

The following individuals are receiving both tenure and promotion in rank:

Dr. Sarah Burns is being promoted to Associate Professor of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. degree from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. degree from PC. She teaches courses on research statistics, introductory psychology, and the experimental study of behavior. Her research interests include experimental psychology with a concentration in learning and cognition.

The Rev. Dr. Rebecca Davis is being promoted to Associate Professor of Religion in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees from Union Theological Seminary, a M.A. degree from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and a B.A. degree from Marshall University. She directs the Christian Education program at PC, and she teaches survey courses in religion as well as classes on leadership in congregations as well as service in faith-based non-profit organizations.

Dr. Chris Farrell is being promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences in the School of Pharmacy. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and his B.A. degree from the University of Rhode Island. He teaches courses in medical immunology, human genetics and pharmacogenomics, and biotechnology. His research interests include cancer genetics, vaccines, and monoclonal antibody therapies.

Dr. Nancy Goodbar is being promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy, where she also serves as Interim Assistant Dean for Professional and Student Affairs. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and her B.S. degree from PC. In addition to her leadership as Assistant Dean, she also teaches classes on health ethics, therapeutic outcomes, and medication therapy management. Her research interests include drug interactions, acute disease states, and chronic disease management.

Dr. Justin Lance is being promoted to Associate Professor of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University and a B.A. degree from Bethany College. His research and teaching interests include research methods, African politics, Latin American politics, political economy, and American foreign policy. He also serves as PC’s faculty secretary.

Dr. Erin McAdams is being promoted to Associate Professor of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University and a B.A. degree from Allegheny College. Her teaching and research interests include the impact of religion on elections, women in politics, campaign management, and legal studies. She also serves as PC’s pre-law adviser.

Dr. Kate Moore is being promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy, where she also serves as Director of Interprofessional Education. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from the University of South Carolina. She teaches medication safety management and serves as a preceptor in the professional program. Her research interests include chronic disease state control and reducing cardiovascular risks and hospital re-admissions.

Dr. Kayce Shealy is being promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy, where she also serves as Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Development. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from the University of South Carolina and her B.S. degree from Newberry College. She teaches classes on health promotion, disease prevention, and learning styles. Her research interests include pharmacist reimbursement for cognitive services and the impact of pharmacists on patient adherence and continuity of care.

Dr. Tobin Turner is being promoted to Associate Professor of Economics and Business Administration in the College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. degree from Clemson University, an M.B.A. degree from the University of Stirling, and his B.S. degree from PC. His teaching and research interests include marketing, sports marketing, strategic management, and international social entrepreneurship.

The following individuals are being promoted in rank:

Dr. Jaime Foushee is being promoted to Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy. She earned her Pharm.D. degree from the University of South Carolina. She teaches pharmacy learning styles and medication safety management, and she also serves as a preceptor in the professional program. Her research interests include medication compatibility, drug induced adverse outcomes, sepsis, and the role of pharmacists in medical resident training.

Dr. Patrick Kiley is being promoted to Professor of French in the College of Arts and Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University and both his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Marian College. He teaches multiple courses in French, and his research focuses on historical understandings of pain in post-revolutionary France as well as the art and science of gastronomy in 18th and 19th century France. Dr. Kiley also directs PC’s International Studies major and minor.

Dr. Paige Meeker is being promoted to Professor of Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina and her B.S. degree from Furman University. She teaches courses on program design, 3-D modeling and animation, web design, database processing, and algorithms and data structures. She is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, and she has led students on trips to experience computer science behind the scenes at Kennedy Space Center and Disney World.
