Students earn academic credit at Disney
What do you have planned for the summer? This past spring, a group of business students went to Disney World to get a look at how the theme park creates its magic.
Sure, it was part vacation. (It was Disney World, after all.)
But it was part work too.
“I thought it would be fun to go down to Disney and learn about how Disney was made, all while receiving credits to go toward my business major,” said PC student Caitlin Cooper.
Cooper took the Managing the Magic Course this past spring with six other business students. They covered topics like customer service and how theme parks are designed, using the textbooks Disney University and Theme Park Design.
Then they went to Disney to see it all in action.
“My favorite part of the trip was being able to go backstage at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and see how some of the magic was made,” Cooper said.
The six-hour behind-the-scenes tour of Disney’s Magic Kingdom was one of the highlights of the trip. The students visited all the parks and compared park attractions and how the cast members behaved. They even caught up with a PC graduate who’s a cast member at one of the parks.
“I made some new friends while I was down there,” Cooper said, “and I have a new appreciation for anyone that works at a theme park.”
Fun and educational opportunities like the Managing the Magic course and trip are only one of the reasons to consider majoring in business at PC. Check out the Economics and Business Administration for ways an economics or business degree from PC could be right for you.
