The Southern Immersion Semester (SIS) is an exciting program that not only specializes in improving students’ English skills, but also provides plentiful opportunities for students to explore, understand, and fully experience the culture of the American South through carefully selected courses and unique travel experiences.

Eligibility

Students applying for the Southern Immersion Semester must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution
  • Meet the minimum English level scores:
    • TOEFL: 480
    • iBT: 60
    • IELTS: 5.5
    • or TOEIC: 610

Application Requirements

To apply students must submit the following by email to oip@presby.edu:

*Filling out the application will simply make you an applicant for our International Program. Later, you may be placed in the Immersion Program.

Course Selection

SIS students will be enrolled in at least two of the three following core courses:

  • IENG 1021: Advanced Listening and Speaking
  • IENG 1022: Advanced Reading
  • IENG 1023: Advanced Writing

Students will also be able to take one or two elective courses. For the elective courses, SIS students will enroll with Presbyterian College students, providing an excellent opportunity for international students to meet new people and truly experience life as a college student in the American South.
