WHAT YOU’LL STUDY

If you love art, you can minor in the field by focusing 18 hours of your elective art courses.

You must complete nine of the 18 hours in three studio courses:

  • Studio Foundation: Drawing
  • Studio Foundation: 2-D
  • Studio Foundation: 3-D

You can select nine hours of art electives from the following courses:

  • Painting I
  • Sculpture
  • Ceramics I
  • Printmaking I
  • Expressive Process: Art Therapy
  • Life Drawing
  • Painting II

The art department reserves the right to retain at least one example of your work for its permanent exhibitions, with your approval.

You’ll need to make at least a “C” in each course to earn a minor in art, although you might be allowed to make one “D.” The Department of Art may specify certain courses that you’ll need to make at least a “C” in, and you’ll need to make an overall average of “C” or better on all work presented for the minor.

You must take at least half of the hours required for the minor at PC. The Provost must approve any substitutions to the requirements of the art minor before completion of the amended requirement.

Speak with your advisor or the chair of the art department about the minimum grades allowed and any additional requirements for the art minor.
