Presbyterian College to host Women’s Leadership Conference Friday, April 8

This year’s Women’s Leadership Conference will be held on Friday, April 8, in Edmunds Hall. Registration will begin at 1 p.m.

The conference will include discussion groups led by students and spanning in topics from “Women Leadership in the Church” and “Women and Politics” to “Body Image and Its Effects” and “Using Writing to Promote Leadership and Feminism.”

Following the discussion groups, participants will engage in a debriefing session with the entire group followed by a panelist discussion with three female leaders in the state of South Carolina: the Honorable Justice Kaye Hearn, the Honorable Liz Patterson, and the Honorable Inez Tenenbaum.

Justice Kaye Hearn is currently serving as the SC Supreme Court Justice and has been in this role since 2009. Prior to this position, she worked as a family court judge for nine years and in the SC Court of Appeals for fourteen years.

Liz Patterson was the Democratic nominee for SC Lt. Governor in 1994. She has also served as a member of the U.S. Congress, SC Fourth District, as a senator for the state of South Carolina, and as a member of the Spartanburg County Council.

Inez Tenenbaum currently works as an attorney. In the past, she has served as the chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and as the SC State Superintendent of Education.

Following the panelist discussion, participants will have the opportunity to network with the panelists and other women in attendance.

This event is sure to be one that inspires and challenges the PC women in attendance to dare to lead boldly.
