Presbyterian College to host “I Come From” screening

As a part of the Southern Film Circuit, Presbyterian College will present a screening of the film “I Come From,” at 7 p.m. on March 16 in the Harrington-Peachtree Amphitheater. The event is free and open to the public.

The film is by Robby Henson. Henson has had films premiered on PBS, BBC, at the Lincoln center, the Museum of Modern Art, the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, and at film festivals across the world. Alongside films, he has directed more than 30 theater productions and has made five award-winning documentaries.

The film depicts the over-burdened American prison system. “I Come From” focuses on incarcerated poets and playwrights who use the power of creativity to change the direction of their lives. The film focuses on six incarcerated artists whose poems and plays reflect hard lives lived, the tough environments negotiated, and past mistakes made. The artists’ works declare a wish, a will to survive, to grow as human beings, and embrace an architecture of change.
