Jon Baggett ’99, PC Outstanding Young Alumnus award winner to speak at SAM talk

Winner of the 2017 PC Outstanding Young Alumnus award, Jon Baggett ’99 will give a SAM talk to PC students on Tuesday, February 27 at 11 a.m. While at PC, Jon majored in Political Science and later joined the Admissions team to recruit future Blue Hose. All are welcome to attend.

Recognized as a certified economic developer, Baggett serves as a senior project manager, at the South Carolina Department of Commerce. With over ten years of economic development experience, Jon is seen as a creative leader in the field, having been named one of the “40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Economic Development” by the Development Counselors International. Over the span of his career, Baggett has worked with global companies such as Michelin, Robert Bosch, Showa Denko Carbon, GE, Evonik, Lockheed Martin, Charter NEX Films, and many others to foster their investment into the Palmetto State, helping to create over 6,000 new jobs and over $2 billion dollars in capital investments.

Presbyterian College’s chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) was established by PC faculty member Norman Scarborough in 1980. The organization gives students the opportunity to learn from seasoned, successful managers before embarking on their own careers. Experienced professionals speak about current management topics pertaining to a variety of areas. SAM has hosted speakers from Raytheon Foreground Security, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, Northwestern Mutual, HGTV, McKinsey, ScanSource, among others.
