Faculty guitar and piano recital set for April 4

Ludlamshöhle (Dr. James Buckland, guitar, and Dr. Karen Buckland, piano) will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4 in Edmunds Hall on the Presbyterian College campus.

The performance will feature works by Giuliani, Hummel and Rossini.

Admission is free, and the recital is open to the public.

In 1817, a group of musicians and artists formed a secret society known as the Ludlams- Gesellschaft, more commonly known as Ludlamshöhle (translated as Ludlam’s cave, the name of the group was from the theater piece of the same name).

All of the members were considered to be innovators in Vienna, a city world-renowned for artistic expression.

The group celebrated their new found freedoms by composing and performing works specifically created for the members. Through research and performance, the current Ludlamshöhle strives to re-create those works.
