The 2017 Mary F. Lehman Alumni Service award for outstanding meritorious service rendered to Presbyterian College and the Alumni Association will be awarded to G. Carlton Manley ’69 of Hartsville, S.C.

Upon completion of high school in 1965, Manley was accepted into Presbyterian College. While attending PC, he served as circulation editor of the Blue Stocking and was a member of the track and field team.  In May of 1969, he graduated from Presbyterian College with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and soon after was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he served in active duty at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Manley pursued graduate studies at the University of South Carolina where he received his MBA.

Over the years, Manley has been involved with PC in several capacities as a class agent, as well as serving multiple terms on the Presbyterian College Alumni Board of Directors. Throughout his career, he has held many leadership positions in the community and church, serving as past chair of the Board of Directors for Piedmont Women’s Center, 2007 Commissioner for South Carolina Ethics Commission in which he was appointed by Governor Mark Sanford, and member of the Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Church.

Manley and his wife, Belinda have three children, all of whom are PC alumni: Ellison ’97, Matthew ’10, and Andrew ’09.
