Middle level education major, Ashlyn Durham, coordinates volunteer opportunities for softball team

Ashlyn-Durham copyAshlyn Durham, a middle level education major with concentrations in Social Studies and English Language Arts is the co-chair of community service for the PC softball team. In this role, she helps organize community service activities for the team. Last year, the team volunteered at the Children’s Hospital in Greenville, where they organized games and activities for children who were recovering from surgery. This year, Ashlyn and her teammates volunteer at the Open Door Soup Kitchen where they organize the pantry, prepare lunches, and serve meals to members of the local community. They also volunteer at the Laurens County Humane Society, which opened in August 2015. The facility houses a variety of cats and dogs in need of loving homes. Ashlyn and her teammates take care of the facility, feed the animals, and walk the dogs. In the words of Ashlyn, “we love volunteering at the Laurens County Humane Society. It is a wonderful facility and we are grateful for the opportunity to help improve the lives of our furry friends.”
