Anderson University, ’22, Magna Cum Laude
Major: Biology
Minor: Biomedical Sciences

What activities and organizations were you involved in as an undergraduate?

During undergrad, I worked for the Admissions Office, giving tours to prospective students interested in the College of Biology and Biochemistry. I was a part of the Student Government for three years as a class representative.

What did you do after you graduated?

Before graduating, I worked as an EKG technician in the hospital. I enjoyed this because it was my first job in healthcare, and I like working in a hospital setting. After graduation, I worked in emergency medicine as a medical assistant/scribe for almost a year. I learned many techniques and skills in this position that would prepare me for PA school. After this, I worked as a medical assistant in rural family
medicine. I gained more skill sets and learned much more about patient care and education. These positions helped prepare me for PA school and gave me an idea of what kind of PA I want to be.

What are some of your hobbies or interests?

Outside of studying, I enjoy walking with my Australian Shepherd named Charlie. Also, I love spending time in nature, especially going on long hikes in the mountains. Besides that, I love growing house plants and continually add to my collection.

Why do you want to be a PA?

I want to be a PA because I love learning and have also found I like many specialties of medicine. As a PA, you are constantly reading and researching new medications or therapies to provide the best education to patients, and you continue to gain and build knowledge. Also, I enjoy the idea that I can switch to a different specialty if I feel like I do not fit or enjoy the speciality I am in (this is one aspect of the PA profession that I was drawn to).

Why did you choose Presbyterian College PA Program?

I chose the PC PA Program because of the faculty and staff. Everyone was kind and willing to talk with me when I interviewed for the program. Each faculty genuinely cared about your success as a PA student and future PA. After starting the program, I know I made the right decision because the faculty still care about your success and are there if you need to ask questions.
