Barbara Hunter, 2019 Honorary Alumna

Barbara Hunter, 2019 Honorary Alumna

Barbara Hunter | 2019 Honorary Alumna Award Recipient | Presbyterian College | Clinton SC

Barbara Hunter has been a loyal and faithful supporter of PC since marrying Toby Hunter ’59 sixty years ago. This year, the College recognizes her as one of two 2019 Honorary Alumna, an honor bestowed upon someone who did not attend PC, but who has always treated PC like her alma mater and has brought honor to the College by doing so.

“Recognizing Barbara this year as an honorary alumna is a great pleasure for the College,” said Leni Patterson ’83, executive director of alumni relations at PC.

Barbara has cheered on Blue Hose athletic teams on the fields and courts “more times than she can count,” according to Patterson.

Barbara served on the Board of Visitors with Toby for several years, and the two have faithfully supported the Scotsman Club as members for the past 60 years.

The Hunters are also Guardians of PC, having established a planned gift that will provide support for the College in the future.

Barbara is present, along with Toby, for many PC events—both on and off campus.

“She has treated PC as her own and supported it as any good alumna would,” Patterson said.

Barbara has been a PC parent for several years. Her daughter, Ginny Fitchen, graduated from PC in 1983.
